Ferrari California and 599 GTB Live Pics from Paris

Ferrari Paris Motor Show 2008 CarscoopThe first-ever hard top Ferrari, the all-new California Coupe-Convertible made its world debut today at the Paris motorshow. The Italian stallion’s signature feature is of course its retractable hard top that’s made from aluminum panels and has a cast aluminum weight-bearing structure which has reduced its overall weight and the moving masses involved. According to Ferrari, the entire opening/closing cycle is completed in a mere 14 seconds. -Continued

Ferrari Paris Motor Show 2008 CarscoopPower is provided by a front-mounted 4.3-liter V8 engine with an output of 460 HP at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque figure of 485 Nm at 5,000 rpm, 75% of which is available at just 2,250 rpm. The new California takes less than 4 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (that’s 62 mph) and delivers a top speed of 310 km/h or 193 mph. Not that anyone actually cares, but the California consumes 13.1 lt/100 km or 17.8 mpg US in the ECE combined cycle and has carbon emission footprint of 305.6 g/km.

Also making its world debut in Paris, is Ferrari’s new customization programme for the 599 GTB Fiorano that allows buyers to create their own bespoke version of the vehicle by choosing special colors for the exterior and interior, adding different rims and other various other options.
