Zagato’s Dodge Viper-Based Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale Smiles at the Camera

Thanks to the interwebs, we now have the first video clip of Zagato’s spanking new Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale that was introduced to the world just last week. Hiding underneath the Italian suit are the platform and the mechanical hardware of the now-obsolete Dodge Viper ACR including the 8.4-liter V10 engine. Zagato has not yet given information regarding output and performance numbers.

The Italian coachbuilder plans to build only 9 examples of the Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale with the American heart, with the first three cars having already been spoken for. To get a look of the new coachbuilt Alfa in the flesh and on the road, just hit the jump below.

Dutch Man Builds Alfa Romeo GTV Bi-Motore with Two V6 Engines and 487HP [with Videos]

“What do you do when the power of an engine is no longer sufficient?” asks Stephan Lenior, the man behind Squadra Tuning, on his company’s website. While the solution for the majority would have been a heavily modified or perhaps a completely different engine altogether, for the owner of the Alfa Romeo tuning company based in Holland, the answer to that question was far more radical and complex.

To make a very long story short, Stephan’s solution to u the performance of his Alfa Romeo GTV V6 involved the fitment of a second six-cylinder engine at the back. Easier said than done of course, with the project turning out to be a rather complicated and time-consuming process.

Stephan documented the entire build on his company’s website and if our Google’s translation is correct (any help from our Dutch speaking readers would be appreciated, especially on the matter of the transmission), Stephan took a 3.2-liter V6 along with the sub frame and suspension bits from an Alfa Romeo 166 and placed them in the rear section of the Italian coupe. Together with the GTV’s front-mounted 3.0-liter V6, the two engines produce a combined output of 487-horsepower.

Alfa Romeo 4C Concept: Video and Live Shots from the Geneva Motor Show

I know some of our readers will disagree, hell, even some of the folks here at Carscoop will beg to differ, nevertheless, I'm going to say it: I'm utterly disappointed with the styling of Alfa Romeo's 4C Concept, which is slated to enter production in 2012. Alfa had a unique chance to redefine its design language with its first mainstream rear-wheel drive model in decades but instead chose to add the Mickey Mouse - bug face treatment to a body that looks awfully similar to the Lotus Elise.

The specific styling cues may work for the 8C Competizione but if you ask me, the 4C looks just as silly as the MiTo does. Granted; the true essence of the 4C Concept lays under the skin and in particular the mid-engine / rear-wheel drive architecture, but would it be much to ask for some of that styling magic Alfa Romeo has served us over the years?

As always, feel free to agree or disagree in our comments section below.

Duped: Alleged Spy Video of Alfa Romeo 4C an MPCARDESIGN Project

A "spy" video showing an Alfa Romeo 4C GTA and Spider has been circulating around the internet lately, with some screen shots even making their way on British car magazine Autoexpress which posted a story on its website the other day.

We had our doubts about its authenticity ever since we first saw the film last week, and today these suspicions were confirmed after we came in contact with Marco Procaccini from MPCARDESIGN who told us that he made the video as part of a new (independent) Alfa Romeo project he is working on. Apparently, someone got hold of Mario's video, and tried to pass it on as a scoop, duping many people in the process.

What Were They Thinking? When Alfa Romeo Rebadged a Nissan to Create the Arna

When the Nissan Versa was launched in Australia as the Tiida, many automotive watchers were excited by the prospect of blending Renault’s European flair with Nissan’s Japanese reliability. “Here,” they said, “Is a car that’ll please everyone.”

What they got was a narrow-bodied subcompact with so-so styling, a plasticy dashboard, a shocking lack of equipment and an overinflated price tag. Not to mention Kim Cattrall in the TV spots. If this sounds strangely familiar to our older readers, you’re right on the money. Twenty-three years before the crossbred Tiida hit Australian shores, another mongrel was being birthed in Europe.

Alfa Romeo Giuseppe Merosi Design Study for a RWD Sports Coupe

From the creator of the Alfa Romeo Vittorio Jano Sedan and Sport Wagon concepts comes this new design study for a classy-looking GT. Named after Giuseppe Merosi, a famous Italian automobile engineer Giuseppe Merosi who worked for Alfa Romeo (then named A.L.F.A.) in the beginning of the previous century, the prototype presented by Marco Procaccini from MPcardesign is a four-seater sports coupe designed to feature a much missed by Alfa Romeo fans, rear-wheel drive layout.

Concept Flashback: Alfa Romeo’s 1996 Nuvola Prototipo V6 Sports Coupe

Welcome to the story of the Alfa Romeo Nuvola Prototipo, one of the most gripping concepts to wear the famous Visconti Serpent badges in the past two decades. Unveiled for the first time at the Paris Motor Show in 1996, the Nuvola Prototipo was named after Tazio Nuvolari, the legendary Italian motorcycle and racecar driver who competed for Alfa in the 1930s.

The Nuvola had all the essential ingredients of a proper Alfa Romeo sports coupe - a beautifully crafted body and interior, classic proportions, a dedicated chassis and enough power to put a smile on your face.

Of course we would have preferred a rear-wheel drive setup, but its four wheel drive layout is much less of a compromise (for a sports car) than if power was transferred exclusively to the front axle.

Alfa Romeo Vittorio Jano Sport Wagon by Marco Procaccini

A few months back we showed you Marco Procaccini's Vittorio Jano design study for an Alfa Romeo 159 replacement (see here). The slinky fastback notably featured an aggressive front end treatment and a C-Column / rear glasshouse design somewhat reminiscent of the Lotus Evora.

Now Marco is back with a more practical Sport Wagon variant of the Vittorio Jano which -in theory- is 50 mm longer and 10 mm taller than its saloon sibling.

New Alfa Romeo Giulietta: The Official Promo Video

A couple of weeks after the Giulietta's world premiere at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, Alfa Romeo has released a two-and-a-half-minute long promotional video of its new sporty hatchback.

The spot nods at the past by shadowing previous generations of the Giulietta in the background but also embraces the future by touting some of the Giulietta's technological and mechanical highlights such as the multilink suspension and start&stop system.

The new Golf-sized Giulietta will be offered with a variety of powertrains spanning from a 105HP 1.6-liter diesel to a 235HP 1.7-liter turbocharged petrol. Video after the break.

VIDEO: Alfa Romeo Giulietta on the Move During Winter Testing in Sweden

Already revealed in pictures, Alfa Romeo is now showing off its Giullietta hatchback on film with a new video clip that was shot during winter testing in Arjeplog, Sweden, this past January. The Giullietta is a direct replacement for the decade-old 147 hatchback model rivaling C-Segment cars like the VW Golf and BMW 1-Series.

The new model is set for a world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in March and a market launch in Europe this summer.

It will be offered with three petrol engines, including 120HP and 170HP versions of a 1.4-liter turbo unit, and a 235HP 1.7-liter turbo, as well as two diesels producing 105HP and 170HP. Hit the jump to watch the new video clip.

First Promo Video for Alfa Romeo's New Giulietta Sport Hatch

The countdown for the official world premiere of the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta at the Geneva Salon in the beginning of March has already began, so the Italians have started working on the promotion of their Ford Focus sized sporty hatch. To our knowledge, this is the first advert for the Giulietta to find its way on the web, but don't get too excited as the film is all talk, no action... Hit the jump to watch the video or click here for the most recent photos of Alfa's five-door hatchback model.

VIDEO: 2010 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Stars in Short Animated Film

Following the release of the first photos and details of Alfa Romeo's Giulietta sport hatch (formerly known as the Milano), a new animated film of the car has appeared on the internet. We're guessing that the 12 second-long video was most likely created for use on Alfa Romeo's official website. Other than showing us the 147's replacement from a few new angles, there's really nothing else worth mentioning about the film. Hit the break to check it out.

Video: Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA official promo film

Following the unveiling of the MiTo GTA Concept at the Geneva Motor Show last week, Alfa Romeo released the first official promo film of its hot hatch that is due to enter production in 2010. Shot in Valencia, the video gives a short taste of the sexy sound delivered by the MiTo GTA's 240-horsepower strong 1.75-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. Too bad that Italians decided to 'dress' the rest of the video with an annoying soundtrack.

On another note, and even though the MiTo GTA does look the part with today's standards, it loses hands down when compared to Giorgetto Giugiaro's stunning 1960s Giulia GTA that is also seen in the video. To be completely blunt, whereas Guilia is the epitome of Italian style, the modern day GTA looks like a comic-esque obese mouse...

Video: Amateur Captures the Alfa Romeo 149 on the Road

Before you begin working on your 'French' in our comment section, allow us to tell you that this amateur video is a only mere 15 seconds long and it just gives us a very tiny glimpse of a camouflaged Alfa Romeo 149 prototype. Like the MiTo, Alfa's new C-segment proposal will draw heavy inspiration from the marque's halo model, the stunning 8c Competizione. As we reported previously, if Fiat seals the proposed deal with Chrysler LLC, Alfa's VW Golf rival will make its way to the States, however, don't expect to see it here before 2011. In Europe, the 149 should hit showrooms by the end of the year or early 2010.

Grazie for the tip Mario!

Video: Alfa Romeo MiTo Sport Hatch

The MiTo is Alfa's first car to be built after the breathtaking 8C Competizione, which by the way, inspired the Italian carmaker’s designers to the point that the subcomact sport hatch looks like a mini version of the supercar. With dimensions of just 4.06 meters long, 1.44 meters high and 1.72 meters wide, the MiTo’s most prominent rival will be the MINI Cooper. You can either click here to see our MiTo gallery that consists of 45 high-resolution images along with the specs or follow the jump and check out the video that includes driving footage as well as exterior and interior studio shots. -Continued
